WHAT WE DO

Our research shines a light on corruption in business, local and state governments, equipping people with the information needed to drive change.

Learn The Basics:

What is corruption?

Corruption happens when people misuse their power for personal gain. It weakens trust, tears the social fabric, and worsens poverty and inequality. The first step to stopping corruption is understanding how it works and what allows it to continue.

Corrupt practices come in many forms, including:

  • Government workers asking for money or favors to do their jobs

  • Leaders helping their friends and sponsors instead of serving the public

  • Powerful corporations buying influence by bribing officials for financial gain

  • Giving jobs, grants, or contracts to friends and family without considering their qualifications
